Hi how you doing? Introduce yourself to the readers of TalkinaAllThatRap.com.
Waaaass Up People.. My names Ms Tempz..I’m a female MC and DJ from the UK.
So tell us about your latest release and where people can get it.
My latest release is called “Silent Strom” and it’s a 14 track free download.. you can download it from my website www.mstempz.com or Google it as its been blogged in loads of places.
This is a tough question, and I know some people like to remain humble, but if you had to give a reason why you think people should check your music, what would you say?
Because I have a lot to offer, and my talent is across the board. I rap, sing, touch on political issues, got a killer flow, talk about things maybe other wont and also kill any beat I touch. Im versatile and even if you don’t like all my music you will like some.
Out of all the songs you have released or been involved with, which song would you say was the popular? What is your number one track?
A lot of people like “Same Road” due to be released on iTunes this month. peeps relate to that track a lot as I talk about my struggle as an artist and life, I also have an official video for it. Also 40 Barz off my “Barzology” Mixtape. I recently re-made 2 of Dj Premiers beats with tunes I called “Realize” and “The Format” People go nuts over them. I love Premo’s production and im definitely a HUGE fan.
In the whole process involved in making music which due you think is the most exciting?
I love writing, being creative is important to me. I also ghost write for others too. I love writing and then goin in the booth.. I love performing too, I supported Rakim this year.. that was a LEGENERY moment for me.
When your recording what is the vibe like in your studio, do you have mood that helps you create?
I can get it done in all circumstances.. I don’t need moods, or special requirements to get done what needs to get done in the booth.. when the door closes and me and the mic are alone.. that’s all I need.. ohhhh and a good engineer lol Im very hands on, I will sit there and cut beats up, arrange them, play with vocals, help mix, program drums… and really over see my projects. Im far from ur average chick ;)
How do you like your production, do you prefer original played beats or more sampled based production?
I’m a lover of music so I don’t have a massive preference. If I like the beat I’ll know coz I’ll write to it with ease. I feel music rather than actually hear it at first.. it’s mad I know, but that’s just what happens.
What producers do you work with and are there any producers you’d like to work with?
I work with any producers whos beats im feeling. I also use some industry beats because they have the vibe I want and I struggle to get that from producers sometimes.. unless you have insane amounts of money to pay for them. I manage myself so its all about working to the budget for now.
The Hip-Hop scene is really spilt between the mainstream and underground, do you think its harder to get noticed by so many different types of rap fans?
Definitely, there is a massive divide.. if ya not industry, the industry don’t really wanna know or support you, it would be VERY rare for a mainstream station to play a underground mc especially day time, regardless of talent unless they have a MASSIVE buzz from the streets or good PR plus everyone is a rapper these days, its not really about talent, just everybody calls them selfs a rapper loool regardless of actual talent so its had to sift through. I also have 2 radio shows on an FM station so I receive A LOT of music across both.
A lot of artists have some sort of free download project. Do you think doing these kind of releases helps or hinders sales on iTunes?
It helps if you are unsigned because you have to try and reach the masses and if you don’t have a big fan base how do you expect people to listen to your music let alone BUY ur music so you have to give something for free or ya gunna put something on itunes and maybe get 10 sales if ya lucky. Its about building on what you have and then getting your followers to support that.
Image seems everything these days, so lets talk about your artwork. Do you come up with concept or does your designer do it? Tell us more about who done the cover to your latest release.
I always have maximum input into my artwork and all my projects because its so important. I knew exactly what I wanted for my silent storm cover to look like and luckily, I have a great relationship with the VERY talent Joey, from humble designs so he knows what I want and how I want it done. I started off by sending him pictures of characters similar to what I wanted, and description of the back ground.. he put in maximum work, created my character and got it spot on with the back drop. That’s how I work with everything to be honest, Back and forth till its right. Im on it lol
Even though You Tube is on-line TV Station, it seems to also be the place where most people go to listen to music. Do you think putting songs up with an artwork image or photo is detrimental to your full music videos? Do you have anything on You Tube or you own Channel?
Yeahh I have my own youtube channel and also my own web website,, check them out people
Have you ever done anything for any DVD or on-line TV channels? Any freestyles or interviews on-line to check out that are recent?
